RSM Middle_Market_Sustainability Survey2024 for the U.S. and Canada…

RSM Middle_Market_Sustainability Survey2024 for the U.S. and Canada highlights the evolving priorities around environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives among middle-market companies. With increasing regulatory and stakeholder pressure, many companies are now prioritizing sustainability and ESG integration into their operations.

Key findings from the survey show that:

Ard70% of middle-market executives reported having formal ESG plans, with a growing focus on environmental and social responsibility.

Larger companies (annual revenue between $50 million and $1 billion) tend to invest more in ESG efforts compared to smaller firms ($10 million to $50 million), as they generally have more resources and experience in this area.

Despite economic challenges, companies are refocusing on ESG metrics that can improve organizational performance, often aligning these efforts with core business objectives.

Additionally, middle-market firms are seeing a rise in dedicated ESG leadership roles, with nearly 69% of firms appointing senior executives to lead sustainability initiatives. This points to a shift where ESG is becoming integral to business strategy, driven by both regulatory demands and market expectations for sustainable practices.
