MoRTH’s 27 April 2026 draft recognising E85, E100 and B100 looks technical on paper.

Strategic in impact.

CAFE-III, expected from April 2027, could tighten India’s passenger-vehicle fleet CO₂ pathway from nearly 113 g/km to about 78.9 g/km by FY32 a ~30% carbon-efficiency reset.

OEM ❓
Can domestic molecules deliver fleet-carbon advantage?

Fuel: Octane Becomes Crude Hedge

E20’s impact till February 2026:

✓ ~US$20.5B forex savings
✓ 28.9 million tonnes crude displaced
✓ 86.9 million tonnes CO₂ avoided

E100 reframes ethanol to 100+ octane strategic fuel.

OEMs: Ready, but Waiting

E20 has already pushed upgrades across elastomers, seals, tanks, injectors, fuel lines & ECU logic.

Flex-fuel pilots show readiness in:

✓ ethanol sensing
✓ cold-start support
✓ engine recalibration
✓ higher fuel-flow capability
✓ material compatibility

OEMs are technically prepared, but commercially waiting for fuel certainty, CAFE-credit clarity and warranty-grade durability data.

Flex: Fuel Becomes Powertrain Intelligence

E100 needs:
✓ real-time ethanol sensing
✓ adaptive ECU mapping
✓ ~1.5x volumetric fuel-flow readiness
✓ corrosion-resistant systems
✓ cold-start enrichment
✓ durability validation

E20 = ethanol-tolerant.
E100 = fuel-intelligent.

GlobalHatch: India’s Biofuel Model Is Different

Brazil proved flex-fuel can scale.
Indonesia uses biodiesel as an import shield.
EU pushes lifecycle-carbon discipline.
India’s E100 play combines:

✓ Brazil’s flex-fuel logic
✓ Indonesia’s import-substitution urgency
✓ Europe’s carbon-intensity scrutiny

CAFE_III: Carbon Math Drives

Every EV, hybrid, flex-fuel engine & low-carbon fuel pathway becomes a portfolio-balancing instrument.

The winning mix:

EV + Hybrid + Flex-Fuel + Calibration Intelligence = Portfolio Optimisation

Farm: Feedstock to Carbon footprint

Sugarcane, maize, damaged grain and 2G biomass must become fuel feedstock that is:

✓ traceable
✓ water-accounted
✓ carbon-intensity certified
✓ food-fuel balanced
✓ scalable beyond first-generation comfort

KtalystBottomLine

The new OEM question is not only:
Will the engine run?

It is:
What is the lifecycle carbon score?

E100 is not about engines alone.
It is about system redesign.

Energy sovereignty is the new horsepower.

KtalystGreyToGreen:GreenMethanol
Dr. Anju Sharma MrsSustainability

One Molecule. Four Price Curves. A New Chemical Economy.

Methanol isn’t going green overnight.
It’s being repriced in layers.

The industry is not switching fuels.
It’s splitting margins.

Inflection point:
EU ETS now prices maritime carbon, FuelEU Maritime starts enforcing fuel intensity, Scope 3 moves from slideware to contractsand suddenly the same CH₃OH carries different cash flows.

The 4_Curve Market That’s Emerging:

1) Grey Methanol — Volume Engine

✓ Coal / gas-based, deeply integrated into chemicals (formaldehyde, acetic acid, MTO)
✓ Lowest cost, highest carbon exposure
Impact: Remains the backbone, but margins compress as carbon becomes a cost line.

2) Blue Methanol — The Bridge

✓ Natural gas + CCS/CCU retrofits
✓ Faster to scale using existing assets
Impact: Buys time. Converts legacy plants into lower-intensity supply while green scales.

3) Bio-Methanol — Early Green Volume

✓ Biomass, waste, biogas routes
✓ Enters quickly into blending, shipping, compliance markets
Impact: Delivers near-term tonnes.
Constraint: Feedstock logistics, traceability, land-use scrutiny.

4) E-Methanol — Premium Proof

✓ Green H₂ + captured CO₂
✓ Highest credibility for EU-grade compliance and Scope 3
Impact: Sets the top price curve.
Constraint: Hydrogen cost, power intensity, certification.

Why This Matters

1. Pricing is shifting from tonne → carbon-adjusted tonne

✓ Same molecule, different lifecycle emissions
✓ Premium flows to certified, auditable tonnes
Result: Margin divergence across the same product.

2. Demand is becoming contract-led, not spot-led

✓ Shipping fleets are ordered before fuel is abundant
✓ Long-term offtakes are locking supply
Result: Bankability > announcements

3. Ports are becoming profit pools

✓ Bunkering, storage, blending, certification
Result: Value migrates from plant gate to corridor control

4. Carbon is moving from report → revenue

✓ Compliance (EU ETS, FuelEU), Scope 3, product carbon footprints
Result: Molecules become claim carriers with pricing power

5. Certification is the new capacity

✓ LCA, MRV, chain-of-custody decide market access
Result: A “green” tonne without proof = discounted tonne

The New ValueEquation

Methanol Value = Molecule + Carbon Intensity + Certification + Offtake + Port Access + Policy

KtalystBusinessMonitor

✓ Segment your portfolio across Grey / Blue / Bio / E don’t bet on one curve
✓ Lock offtake early, demand is outrunning certified supply
✓ Invest in proof systems , LCA, MRV, chain-of-custody
✓ Build corridor positions ports, storage, bunkering
✓ Design for Scope 3 — sell molecules that reduce your customer’s emissions

KtalystBottomLine
✓ Grey owns the volume.
✓ Green marks the premium.
✓ Transition carbon-adjusted tonne

6thToe of the CarbonFootprint: GreenCreditability
Dr. Anju Sharma MrsSustainability

The chemical industry was built to make molecules.
YR2035 chemical industry will be judged by how intelligently it brings them back.

For decades, carbon footprinting walked on five familiar toes:
Energy. Emissions. Water. Waste. Compliance.

But the new chemical world needs a 6thToe:

GreenCreditability

Not green credit as a certificate.
Not circularity as a slogan.
Not “recyclable” as a perfume for greenwashing.

Green Creditability is the ability of a molecule, material, or process to return measurable green value after first use.

Global energy-related CO₂ emissions are near 38 Gt. Plastic circularity is still stuck around 9% recycled. That is not waste. That is stranded carbon, stranded chemistry, and stranded margin.

So the new footprint will not only ask:
What did you emit?

It will ask:
What did you recover, prove, reuse, and monetise?

The 5 Green Creditability Tests

1. ReturnTest
Can the molecule come back?

✓ Collection route
✓ Reverse logistics
✓ Customer take-back

2. RecoveryTest
Can useful value be extracted?

✓ Solvent recovery
✓ By-product valorisation
✓ Monomer recovery

3. ReEntryTest
Can yesterday’s output become tomorrow’s input?

✓ Circular feedstock
✓ Certified recycled content
✓ Industrial symbiosis

4. ProofTest
Can the loop be verified?

✓ Chain of custody
✓ End-of-life traceability
✓ Real recovery, not slide recovery

5. MarginTest
Can recovery protect profit?

✓ Lower disposal cost
✓ Lower virgin feedstock dependence
✓ Lower carbon exposure
✓ New circular revenue

The old footprint measured the cost of making.
The 6thToe measures the credit of bringing back.

Carbon footprint tells us what the molecule cost the planet.
Green Creditability tells us what value it can return to the economy.

That is the shift from Molecule Maker to Material-Value Manager.

KtalystKlue

The future of Green Chemistry is not just a cleaner molecule.
It is a smarter return journey.

2030EBITDA: The Illusion of “Free” Intelligence
Dr. Anju Sharma | MrsSustainability | KtalystGreyToGreen™

AI is not magic, it’s a high-velocity business tool with a hidden, compounding meter. For most companies, it will become.
a margin discipline problem.

The question is no longer:
Are we using AI?

It is:
Is AI creating operating leverage or quietly becoming a cost layer?

AI does not arrive alone, while the world watches the grid, the C-suite must watch the P&L.

✓ Compute cost
✓ Cloud & API surges
✓ Tool subscriptions
✓ Integration debt
✓ Data-risk exposure
✓ Vendor dependency
✓ Embedded carbon risk
✓ Compliance friction

With CBAM moving into its definitive phase from 1 January 2026, carbon is no longer a sustainability footnote. It is becoming a market-access variable.

That is the missing layer.

KtalystQuantumCarbon

Compute × Carbon × Time ÷ Value Created

Carbon is no longer static.
It is becoming real-time, location-linked, vendor-linked, and customer-visible.

Ask?
What is our AI cost?

AskAgain
What is our AI cost-to-value ratio?

As AI cost is not the SaaS invoice.
That is only the receipt.

The real bill sits inside the operating model:

✓ Shadow Compute — API calls, token wastage, cloud spikes
✓ Integration Debt — pilots, consultants, process redesign
✓ Adoption Drag — training, rework, governance, human review
✓ Compliance Shadow — data risk, audits, vendor exposure
✓ Carbon Drag — embedded energy and carbon footprint
✓ Market Access Gap — tenders, exports, ESG-linked customer filters

$ame AI tool.
$ame business function.
∆ Different EBITDA.

Are useing AI as a margin lever.
or as a digital buffet — everyone consumes, nobody measures the bill.

The2030 P&L Lens

Revenue: AI-enabled growth
− Compute / API usage
− Tool and cloud subscriptions
− Process redesign
− Human-in-the-loop review
− Vendor carbon exposure
− Compliance and market-access friction
= CarbonAdjustedEBITDA

AI/ technology conversation.
= capital allocation conversation.

TheZoneTest: Where Does Your Margin Sit?

🟢 Green Zone — Compute-Ready Margin

🟡 Amber Zone — Throttled Growth

🔴 Red Zone — Margin Compression

MarginTest

Stop asking only: “Does the AI work?

Ask:

1. Which process has AI actually made cheaper?

2. Which revenue line has AI improved?

3. What is our cost per AI-assisted output?

4. What is the vendor, data, and carbon shadow?

5. Are we creating operating leverage — or digital noise?

KtalystBottomLine

2030, every company will be AI-enabled. That will be the baseline, not the advantage.

The winners will treat:

Compute like capital.
Carbon like currency.
AI like a margin instrument not a toy box.

In the AI decade, intelligence will be abundant. Only disciplined intelligence will be profitable.” — Dr. Anju Sharma

KtalystGreyToGreen: Shipping partner that strengthens your carbon credits, not your carbon liability.
Dr. Anju Sharma MrsSustainability

Scale built the old maritime advantage.
Scale minus carbon is building the new one.

EU ETS surrender obligations rise to 70% in 2026, after 40% in 2025, and move to 100% from 2027 onward for covered shipping emissions. Coverage already includes CO₂ and expands to CH₄ and N₂O from 2026. Carbon has moved from sustainability language to operating cost.

More than 80% of world trade by volume moves by sea. Shipping therefore sits at the center of a new commercial equation: freight rate, fuel choice, compliance cost, and carbon exposure now travel together.

1. Carbon has entered freight math
✓ EU ETS now applies to large ships of 5,000 GT and above calling at EU ports.
✓ Compliance rises in stages: 40% → 70% → 100%.
✓ Methane and nitrous oxide enter the system from 2026.
Shipping is no longer managing only fuel bills. Shipping is now managing carbon bills too.

2. Fuel choice has become strategy
✓ FuelEU Maritime is pushing demand toward renewable and low-carbon fuels.
✓ Zero-emission technology at berth is part of the transition logic.
✓ Fleet relevance now depends on fuel optionality, not only vessel size.

3. Global direction is already set
✓ IMO’s 2023 GHG Strategy calls for at least a 40% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030.
✓ IMO also targets at least 5%, striving for 10%, uptake of zero- or near-zero-GHG fuels, technologies, and energy sources by 2030.
✓ Ships above 5,000 GT account for about 85% of international shipping GHG emissions, which is why regulation is focusing there.

4. Market leaders are already shaping the curve
Public Alphaliner data continues to place MSC, Maersk, CMA CGM, COSCO, and Hapag-Lloyd among the leading global liner operators. Fleet decisions by these carriers influence fuel pathways, ordering logic, and competitive benchmarks across the sector.

5. The Value edge is changing
Old shipping advantage: scale.
New shipping advantage: scale with lower carbon liability.

That means:
✓ lower ETS exposure
✓ better fuel optionality
✓ cleaner freight propositions for Scope 3-conscious customers
✓ stronger long-term asset relevance under tighter regulation

KtalystKlues™
A ship is no longer judged only by what it carries. A ship is increasingly judged by what it burns, emits, and leaves behind.
The voyage is the same.
The value equation is not.
