🔷 KTALYSTINSIGHTS™ | Trade & Tariffs Watch
Dr. Anju Sharma MrsSustainability
PVC has quietly become one of the world’s most protected commodities. 🌍⚔️
After a long stretch of global oversupply, market after market is putting up walls. These include anti-dumping duties (ADDs), countervailing duties and minimum import prices. The aim is the same everywhere: protect local producers and hold on to market share.
I went through Argus Media’s latest “Trade Wars: PVC Edition” (Sept 2026) & turned it into the 5-slide carousel attached. A few numbers stood out:
📌 The EU-27 is the toughest gate. Duties on suspension PVC (s-PVC) from the USA and Egypt range from 58% to 100.1%. For some exporters, Europe is effectively closed.
📌 The UK isn’t far behind. It charges 38.43% to 56.01% on US-origin s-PVC.
📌 Brazil, Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey have all acted. Brazil charges 21.6% to 43.7% on China and the USA. Pakistan charges 3.4% to 20.5%, and preliminary measures of 17.7% to 37.3% are on the table. Egypt has raised duties from 9% to 13%, with 35% on European material. Turkey charges 7.93%.
📌 Mexico uses a fixed charge. It applies US$631.50/t on US material instead of a percentage.
📌 India is at the centre of the emulsion PVC (e-PVC) story. Duties vary by producer, from US$0/t to over US$700/t across China, Malaysia, Norway, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. More s-PVC measures are being discussed.
📌 More is coming. South Korea and Thailand have investigations under way, and Pakistan’s preliminary measures could become final.
Why should this matter to you?
Trade barriers don’t remove surplus. They redirect it. Every door that closes pushes volume towards markets that are still open. That changes regional prices, contract terms and who wins on cost.
For Indian buyers, compounders and converters, this means:
🔹 Your landed cost now depends as much on the producer’s name as on the country of origin.
🔹 Supplier diversification is a margin decision, not just a risk-management exercise.
🔹 Watching trade-remedy notices is now part of procurement strategy.
For exporters and producers, the map is a reminder that market access can change within a quarter. The winners will be the ones who plan for policy scenarios, not just price scenarios.
👉 Swipe through the carousel and tell me: is your business hedging for trade policy, or still reacting to it?
