The world has not entered a slowdown. It has entered a sorting phase.

The world has not entered a slowdown. It has entered a sorting phase.
Dr. Anju Sharma

I have been reading McKinsey, IMF and Bloomberg over the past few weeks.

What struck me was not where they agreed.
It was what their data begins to say when read together.

The global economy is not moving in one direction anymore.

It is splitting.

📊 Growth is diverging.
India remains relatively strong. China is slowing. The US is moderating. Europe continues to struggle with weaker structural momentum.

⚡ Energy is back at the centre of economics.
Oil is no longer just a commodity variable. It is influencing inflation, freight, food costs, margins, interest rates and ultimately capital allocation.

🌐 Trade is not deglobalising. It is rerouting.
Supply chains are increasingly being designed around resilience, geopolitics and strategic access—not simply lowest cost.

🤖 AI is creating another economic cycle altogether.
Capital is moving toward chips, compute, power and automation, while traditional knowledge-intensive businesses are being forced to rethink productivity, workforce and valuations.

⚖️ Balance sheets may be the hidden fault line.
Financial assets and liabilities are expanding faster than the productive economy underneath them.

That makes 2026 less about asking:

Will the world grow?

and more about asking:

🎯 Who is positioned to absorb volatility without destroying value?

For India, the opportunity remains significant—but so does the exposure to imported energy, logistics costs and external shocks.

🔎 My KtalystKlues™ takeaway:

Growth will create opportunity.
Resilience will decide who keeps it.
